Profile

  • Four (4) to six (6) years prior legal experience in corporate and commercial law;
  • Law degree from an accredited law school (LLB or Juris Doctor) and called to the British Columbia Bar;
  • Broad knowledge/experience in the following areas: real estate/facilities development, regulatory compliance, technology, data privacy, licensing, advertising, contract development and negotiations, and procurement transactions. Exposure to insurance and risk management, an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization;
  • Ability to work under pressure and with tight deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Act as a responsible for internal review of online terms and conditions and contracts with third-party business partners;
  • Support the Company’s business in commercial contract negotiations, creating standard documents, contract implementation support, internal approval processes, regulatory topics, research hand development collaborations and training business partners on a range of legal areas;
  • Actively contributes to new business models and application in provincial and federal jurisdictions;
  • Apply expertise and support with litigation, corporate matters, record-keeping, commercial leasing, dealer management and other legal projects;
  • Provide resolution to legal issues and escalate, as required to meet business needs;
  • Interface and collaborate with third-party law firms while serving as a liaison with the VinFast Global legal department and Vingroup’s international legal team;
  • Deliver support in the development of legal processes, policies, and procedures that will support the goals and objectives of the Canadian business and result in the best use of the company’s legal and financial resources;
  • Provide legal advice to various departments including Marketing, Procurement, HR, Showroom Development, Corporate Sales & Online Sales, Financial Services, IT and After-Sales Service;
  • Provide commercial legal support to VinFast Canada’s auto business and it battery leasing entity with a focus on drafting and negotiating customer proposals and agreements, change and claims management, ensuring effective legal risk management, process improvement, as well as counselling and training business partners in a broad field of legal topics;
  • Effectively contributing to the simplification of approaches and processes to allow engagement in a more innovative and progressive direction;
  • Implementing a contract review tool to deploy an entrepreneurial approach to risk management in contracting;
  • Responsible for ensuring all needs of assigned company business lines are addressed which include commercial contract drafting and negotiations, distributor relationships, claims management, risk management and following internal approval processes;
  • Enhance the commercial contract process;
  • Collaborate in cross-divisional business development and process improvement initiatives.
